ART in PARK HOTEL TOKYO 2019 | English

The contemporary art fair ART in PARK HOTEL TOKYO 2019 (AiPHT) will be held in Park Hotel Tokyo located in Shiodome on the weekend of March 8 – 10, 2019 (A preview will be held on Friday, March 8).

There will be 42 galleries participating in AiPHT 2019. A total of 36 Japanese galleries: 15 from Tokyo and 21 from outside of Tokyo, there will also be 3 galleries from Taiwan and 3 from Korea. It will be the first time participating in AiPHT for 9 of these galleries.

There are two special features in this year’s fair. The first feature is that many galleries based outside Tokyo will be participating. They will present artists and their artworks which are rarely shown in Tokyo, in a selective and high-quality presentation manner.
The second feature is the set-up of the fair, which will enable the guests to easily imagine how the artworks fit into their homes. Each of the galleries’ creative use of the hotel rooms creates intimate surroundings for the guests to come into contact with artworks.
Also, there are a wide range of artworks presented in the fair; artworks from young and upcoming artists to internationally renowned artists, including paintings, sculpture, prints, photographs, and installations.

A highlight of this year’s fair is the theme “Art in 1980s”, which is the topic major Japanese museums have been focusing their research and evaluation on in recent years.Many artworks by the artists who symbolize the Japanese art scene from the 1980s will be presented in the fair.
